When it comes to Reggae music, past and present, there are very few names that draw the vast amount of attention than the musical powerhouse production team of Lowell Dunbar and Robert Shakespeare aka Sly and Robbie. They have been Skankin’ since the early 1970’s.  In recent years their last two releases (J Paradise and One Pop Reggae) have received splendid reviews.  The latter was recently nominated for a Grammy.

In a recent article from the Jamaican Observer by Cecelia Campbell-Livingston, Dunbar expressed he was content with the nomination however he’s not getting all worked up about it.  As he puts it, “It’s all about making music for the people.  That’s what Robbie and I are all about.  I don’t feel any way different, I’m doing work as usual.”

One Pop Reggae has something for everybody, with Roots Rock Reggae styles of Dean Frasier and Taxi Gang on “So Far Away” to the smooth crooning of the Dancehall Veterans T.O.K. on “Forever”.
